PRE-DOCTORAL RESEARCHERS
PFIS contracts 2021

Aim of the call:
The IMIBIC Research group "GC07 Nephrology. Cell Damage in Chronic Inflammation", is looking for predoctoral candidates for the "PFIS" call 2021.
PFIS Doctoral Fellowships are funded by the National Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII), via the Strategic Action in Health 2021 (Acción Estratégica en Salud). They offer a 4 years employment contract for pre-doctoral researchers to carry out their doctoral studies as part of the team working on a research project funded by the ISCIII.
The selected candidate will apply for the PFIS fellowship to carry out her/his Phd studies as part of the project "PI20/00781, Effect of probiotic supplement on renal function, vascular calcification and disturbances in mineral metabolism in Chronic Kidney Disease. Clinical and experimental studies" under the supervision of Dr. Sagrario Soriano Cabrera.
This project aims to identify the role of changes in the microbiota that occur during chronic kidney disease. The study aims to find out whether treatment with probiotics of dialysis patients modifies the intestinal microbiota and thereby reduces inflammation and mineral metabolism alterations. The role of the microbiota on vascular calcification will be evaluated, and if microbiota transplantation can improve kidney function and mineral metabolism disorders.

Eligibility criteria:
- The candidates must be admitted or enrolled in a PhD Program of the University of Cordoba for the academic year 2021-2022. This requirement can be accredited until the end of the redress period of the call.
- The candidates must be in possession of the degree (master or equivalent) in biomedical or experimental sciences (eg. biotechnology, biomedicine, neuroscience, etc.)

Valued merits:
- Academic record
- Experience in both analytical and preclinical animal (rodents) experimentation techniques, aligned with the objectives of the project.
- Advanced level of English (technical)
- Training in statistics
