The future holder of the position should represent the field of „bio-materials“ in research and teaching and should have an excellent international scientific record. The content of the professorship should fit in well with the close interdisciplinary links between the research

at the Institute for Materials Science and the Medical Faculty and the research focus KiNSIS (Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Science). Examples of possible research topics include bioinstructive materials and surfaces, hybrid materials (e.g. through bioprinting with cells, carriers of medicinal substances or active substance release dynamics), surface coating and modification as well as biomaterials with sensor and / or actuator properties or other current topics in biomaterial research. In addition, there is close cooperation with other research groups at Kiel University such as KLS (Kiel Life Science) and the Helmholtz Center Geesthacht (HZG) expected within the framework of crossfaculty joint projects (SFBs, research groups, etc.) which are ongoing and to be developed. In addition to our own (cell) laboratories, the institute‘s joint laboratories such as the Kiel Nanolab (https://www.tf.uni-kiel.de/matwis/afm/en/nanolab) are available for scientific work. In cooperation with the Medical Faculty, for example, the use of experimental MRT, NMR, FACS, -omics, and animal experiment facilities are possible.

Applicants must have experience in acquiring and managing research projects and/or project experience from their own industrial activities.

Within the framework of the teaching obligations, which are based on the respective valid state regulation on teaching obligations at univer-sities (LVVO), an appropriate participation in the basic training in the study courses of materials science in German and English language, as well as the execution of specialization events and of events within the framework of graduate training in joint projects is assumed. Applicants should be open to new (e.g. digital) forms of teaching and actively participate in their establishment. Adequate participation in academic selfadministration is expected.
