Finding a place to stay is one of the first things you might want to begin researching, since housing in the Netherlands is generally in short supply and can therefore be very expensive. An easy option is to get a mobile phone with a pre-paid simcard for the first few weeks. Once you have settled down you can apply for a cheaper phone subscription. It is possible to keep the same phone-number when changing from prepaid to subscription.
