Breaking boundaries: how to get your Dutch pension across the border…
February 2011 - If you are working as a researcher in the Netherlands, you may be accruing pension benefits here, benefits that you will want paid out to you when you have reached the right age, even if you no longer live in the Netherlands when that time comes. However, it is virtually impossible to transfer pension funds across national borders before you actually retire. You do, of course, retain entitlement to any pension accrued, which you can claim once you reach the age of retirement. We will explain how to do this by presenting a short description of the Dutch pension system.
Social security rights: what happens when you move?
February 2011 - In many countries, employees accrue social security rights, so that if something should happen to you (such as unemployment, a long-term illness or incapacity for work), your lost income is either partially or fully provided for. Many such social security schemes set criteria for the benefit for which you are ‘accruing’ the rights, so to speak. For example, the total number of years for which you have been working may determine whether you are eligible for a benefit, how much you will receive and/or for how long. But what happens to these accrued rights if you move to a different country during your career?
Introducing: PhD candidates Network of the Netherlands (PNN)
February 2011 - The PNN tries to represent all PhD candidates, national and international, full-time or part-time, throughout the Netherlands in political discussions. Once every three months, we organize a meeting with the boards of university-based PhD organizations. Maybe you are familiar with your local PhD organization, because you attended a PhD day, party, or network event. Or maybe you have encountered some kind of problem that you needed help with.

Preaching pensions
February 2011 - This issue of the Euraxess Newsletter discusses something that young people may prefer not to think about: your pension and what happens to various social security entitlements you’ve accrued in the Netherlands when you leave the country.
Help us improve the website and win a flip video camera
February 2011 - Last year the www.euraxess.nl website was revamped, and we would love to know what you think of it. Is the information presented in a clear and logical manner? Can you find the answers to your questions? Are any specific subjects missing?
