25 May 2009

Here several ways are provided to find a research job vacancy for you in the Netherlands. Foremost the Academic Transfer job database might prove a valuable source for you, but there are other means as well.

Academic Transfer job database

Find all academic jobs in the Netherlands at Academic Transfer. AcademicTransfer is the joint vacancy site of the Dutch universities, academic medical centers and research institutes. Euraxess.nl uses the vacancy database of AcademicTransfer.

By using the search engine on the upper right of the screen - opting for vacancies, you will find all the  job vacancies in the Research and Development area from the Academic Transfer job database, which matches the search criteria you entered. If you did not enter a search criteria, no matches will be found.

A more advanced search is possible on the AcademicTransfer database itself.

Upload your CV

You can post your CV to the CV database on the European Euraxess Portal. Registered research organisations looking for new staff will have access to the CV database. CV's can be added by all researchers, whatever your age, nationality of level of research experience. The European Euraxess Database shows CV's in a structured and confidential way to registered organisations.

Other tips

Check the AcademicTransfer website also for companies/organisations with an R&D-facility. Some of these companies you can find also under Research Landscape.

Check the European Euraxess job database, with research jobs in all research fields in all European countries. If you are looking for the Dutch vacancies however, the offer is the same as you will find on AcademicTransfer.

Use your network! Inform amongst colleagues if they know of positions. Still many research positions are filled through networking. It is wise to try and form a network and use it. Publish an article (a great introduction!), go to conferences on your topic, talk to your professor or colleagues or other people you know who are active in your research-field. Perhaps they might know a Dutch professor or another Dutch relation.

For jobs in the field of biology, chemistry, food and pharmacy, once a year - in April - a huge jobmarket is organised in the Netherlands. Perhaps you can visit this BCF-event? If not it is still well worth to go to their website as it contains a lot of information on research heavy companies in this sector.
